Moorhead, Minn. (January 5, 2016) –Bunke Racing claims podium finishes at the USXC Gerald Dyrdahl memorial Pine lake 200 in Gonvick, MN.
The sun was shining and it was a perfect weekend for heads up racing. The day started out a little rough. It was right away Saturday morning; Gabe was riding in the ice groove on the track when he felt his hi fax getting a little warm so he decided to slide over to the powder to get a little lube. With the snow dust hanging he didn’t notice the 3 foot berm, landing him sideways and hitting the rock solid ice with his shoulder, dislocating it. Luckily the injuries were not too severe and Gabe hopes to be back out riding in a couple weeks.
The father/ son Bunke team had signed up to run the No bull Triple Crown challenge race together later that day. While Gabe was getting his shoulder popped back into place; Taylor had a decision to make. Taylor decided to continue on with a fellow Polaris race team member Travis Faust. Taylor and Travis teamed up piloting the 74 sled to a Third Place Podium finish in the PRO Enduro. The boys were clocked going 119 miles per hour on the straight away. The Bunke Racing 74 Polaris Mod was howling.
Taylor Bunke had a great run in the I-500 class securing another spot on the podium with a second place finish on his 600 AXYS Polaris.
The qualifying heats on Saturday didn’t give Taylor a very good starting position on Sunday. He ended up starting in the 3rd row in the Semi Pro Final. The Green flag dropped and so did Bunkes throttle. He landed a great holeshot and didn’t let off the gas, one by one he started picking thru the snow dust. He started in 14th position and finished in the 6th position.
Up next for Bunke Racing will be the USXC Devils Lake North Dakota 250 on January 9th and 10th in Devils Lake, ND.
