Moorhead, Minn. (February 29, 2016) –Bunke Racing claims a podium finish at the USXC Seven Clans Warroad 200- Warroad, Minnesota.

warroad2016_TaylorThe Bunke trailer headed north on Thursday for the last ditch race of the year. The boys were pumped up and ready to hit the powder for a day of testing on Friday. The clutches were pulling weight and the suspension was spot on sending them to registration Friday night. Taylor Bunke was confident he had everything it took to be competitive for the weekend. So, he decided to register for the Semi Pro 600 and the Pro 600 classes.

The sun was shining on Saturday and so were the Bunke Racing PRO S AXYS 600 sleds. Taylor flew out of the gate with speed and had the fastest lap in the Semi Pro class leading Ryan Trout by 20 seconds after the first lap. The second lap was a bit different, either lack of handle bar grips or poor glove choice made hanging on a bit of a hand full. Taylor’s arms felt like cement slabs and it was a bit difficult to hold on. The qualifying heat in the Semi Pro class on Saturday put the #14 Taylor Bunke seven seconds behind Trout for the Semi Pro final on Sunday. The Bunke boys were sitting in the 3rd and 6th position in the PRO class for the final race on Sunday.

warroad2016_Taylor.day 2Sunday was a bit overcast and colder leaving the track rock hard. In a two day USXC event you start day two based on your qualifying heats from day one. Taylor was in a great spot, sitting in the second position, seven seconds behind Ryan Trout in Semi Pro class and sitting right behind Justin Tate in the 3rd position in the Pro class. Gabe was at a comfortable 6th place starting position. The checkered flag flew and so did the Bunke boys. Taylor had a bit of a mishap on lap one. He came into a corner a little hot so he decided to check out the willows setting him back a few seconds. T. Bunke was getting into his groove around lap 3 making up time on the top PRO drivers. One thing holding him back was Trout. Taylor had more speed on the last lap and figured one more lap would’ve been exactly what he needed. T. Bunke had a great run on Sunday, finishing 10 seconds behind the #1 position Zach Herfindahl. Bunke had the 2nd fastest time of the day on Sunday in the Pro 600 class. He was dialed in. Taylor ended up getting pushed off the podium in the Pro class due to a last minute entry on Sunday.

You win some you lose some and sometimes people just make up the rules while they go along.

Up next for Bunke Racing will be final USXC race of the year March 5th and 6th in Naytahwaush, MN.
