Moorhead, Minn. (January 10, 2017) –Bunke Racing claims podium finishes at the USXC Gerald Dyrdahl memorial Pine lake 200 in Gonvick, MN.

#874 Boe Bunke

The green flag dropped at 9am Saturday morning along with a cloud of hovering snow dust that would not clear. Temperatures were also hanging below that -15 degrees with no wind making a challenging pro qualifier. The officials held off for the following classes until the air cleared. Saturday was a qualifying day for most classes. One class to mention would be the Junior 10-13 class.  Boe Bunke was back in the saddle aboard the 550 Polaris Indy. Boe muscled his way in six laps to a podium finish, taking home the hardware with a 2nd place finish in his second ever career race.  The Pro modified/ open final would be the race to watch as the mod sleds roared thru the cattails on Saturday afternoon.  Taylor Bunke suited up for the open final on his personally built open/ mod sled. Taylor would grab the checkered flag side by side with Ben Langaas finishing in the number seven position.  Aaron Christensen was catching the second place Herfindahl machine, but when the checkered flag dropped he would grab the 3rd place podium spot.

Sunday was a balmy -3 below when the sleds hit the track. The sun was trying to burn off the clouds just as hard as the snowmobiles were trying to burn off their fuel with the last qualifying heat for front row starting position for the Pro stock final.  Alex Hetteen had his Polaris machine dialed in hitting a top speed of 105mph. Following the pro stock qualifier was the Master’s 40 class. Gabe gripped his handle bars and didn’t look back- grabbing the number one spot on the podium on his XCR. The final race of the day would bring the Pro’s back to the start/ finish line. The pro’s lined up for a heads up final, four rows of sleds lined up to hit the track in search of the checkered flag. Gabe and Taylor Bunke would both start in the second row. Once the green flagged dropped so did Bunkes throttle pushing his way up to the front row. The ten lap final had everyone gasping for air as the sleds made their way around the ten mile Pine Lake course. Polaris would grab two podium finishes. Ryan Faust clinching the 2nd place spot and Gabe grabbing 3rd on the podium. Six of the top ten machines were Polaris in the Pro final.
